New Krupp hammer

"Krupp Berco Bautechnik have developed a hydraulic hammer with selectable start-up settings. Available in both Eco and Marathon versions, the new HM2600 features the StartSelect system which allows users to change the start-up setting of the hammer quickly and easily to match operating conditions. The hammer also features an improved piston sealing system and newly designed tie rods with thread inserts.

Two settings are provided by the StartSelect system - 'easy start-up' and 'automatic shut-off'. The easy start-up mode allows the hammer to begin work as soon as the tool comes into contact with the material to be broken. If idle blows are registered, the hammer does not shut off automatically but continues to operate at reduced energy, protected by the standard AutoControl system. As soon as the tool comes up against firm resistance again, AutoControl automatically switches back to full power.

Krupp recommend the easy start-up setting when reducing oversize in blasted rock or when working on light concrete structures. This mode also improves handling and, therefore, productivity when using the hammer in a horizontal or overhead position.

The automatic shut-off setting is recommended for jobs in firm ground conditions, eg bench levelling in quarries, excavating foundations from solid rock or breaking heavy concrete structures. In this setting, the hammer automatically cuts out as soon as the percusion piston no longer strikes the working steel. Where visibility is poor the automatic shut-off mode prevents damaging idle blows.

The HM2600 replaces the HM2500 model. Like its predecessor, the new hammer is designed for mounting on carriers in the 45-75-tonne class and weighs around 4.1 tonnes. Operating at a pressure of 160-180 bar and with an oil-flow rate of 250-320 litres/min, it has the same hydraulic input data as the HM2500 and has been designed for the same working tools.

The Eco version of the HM2600 with StartSelect system features the AutoControl automatic stroke-switching system as standard and offers the ContiLube II automatic lubrication unit as an option. The Marathon version features both AutoControl and ContiLube II as standard along with the DustProtector system. Both versions are available with the Vibrosilenced Plus system for enhanced noise reduction."
