New Komatsu hybrid excavator for L Lynch

Komatsu HB215LC-2 hybrid excavator

Plant hire firm bolsters machinery fleet with fuel-efficient HB215LC-2 hybrid model

A LEADING name in the UK plant hire industry, L Lynch have taken delivery of their first Komatsu hybrid excavator after a successful demonstration earlier this year.

The firm already has a growing fleet of Komatsu machines and during the demo it tested an HB215LC-2 hybrid excavator against a PC210LC-11, which is the standard equivalent to the former model.

The machines had completed the same tasks for the same number of days on the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon Improvement Scheme and the results showed that the hybrid machine achieved an average fuel consumption of 9.3 litres/h while the standard excavator used 16.7 litres/h.

‘What prompted us to test the hybrid excavator is that Komatsu technology has been around for 10 years, whilst other manufacturers are only just releasing their hybrid machines,’ said Liam Moore, senior operating manager for Lynch.

L Lynch have a solid reputation for understanding and meeting the demands of their customers. With many of their clients and upcoming contracts – such as HS2 – pushing for innovative product solutions, the Komatsu hybrid excavator fits the requirements for ‘greener’ and more efficient machines that reduce carbon emissions.

The plant hire firm has recently put another HB215LC-2 machine to work on a major highways contract and ordered three more Komatsu hybrids, which are due be delivered in the next few months.

‘Marubeni-Komatsu don’t just provide us with strong, reliable machines with great residual values, but they also continuously give us excellent customer service and delivery times,’ commented Mr Moore.
