New high-flow dewatering pumpset from DXB

DXB Pump and Power

DXB Pump & Power launch largest Stage V emission-compliant portable pumpset in the UK

DXB Pump & Power have launched a new Stage V emission-compliant portable 12in (300mm) pumpset for high-volume pumping jobs in quarries and mines, especially in times of wet weather and rising water levels.

Designed entirely in house by DXB Pump & Power, the pumpset integrates a world-class Cornell high-flow pump and a 13-litre, 300kW Scania engine to deliver flow rates of more than 1,700 cubic metre per hour, whilst still passing the solids up to almost 4in that are often seen in open lagoon conditions.

Packaged within a sound-attenuated canopy with integrated four-point lifting and an optional hook-lift skid, the pumpset is said to be the highest-performing 12in unit currently available in UK and European markets, making it particularly suitable for organizations requiring large-scale dewatering and flood control, as often seen in some UK sand and gravel quarries located near waterways.

The pumpset contains a number of features that are unique to DXB Pump & Power, including the company’s own in-house telemetry system that allows quarries, hire companies and DXB themselves to monitor the performance and health of the engine and pump, 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world, including the ability to send urgent communications to all parties concerned.

Resulting from more than 1,000 hours of research and development, Simon Ruffles, managing director of DXB Pump & Power believes the DXB team have developed a market-changing piece of equipment that lays the foundation for large, environmentally friendly pumpsets that are capable of helping quarries and mines to achieve lower carbon emissions in 2020, especially those UK sites that currently use older equipment.

Mr Ruffles said: ‘The implementation and use of Stage V engines is a massive leap forward for the pump industry in the UK in terms of reducing environmental pollution such as noise and exhaust gases. We spent many long days and nights developing this pumpset, which will be the foundation of our large pumpset offering in 2020, with a 450mm version using the same engine being launched in February 2020.’

The new 12in pumpset operates only at a maximum speed of 1,700 rev/min, which is one of the lowest points on the fuel burn curve, allowing it to offer the highest tonnes of water pumped versus litres of fuel consumed – an output equivalent, it is said, to around six smaller 6in (150mm) pumpsets used in the UK today.

‘Like any large plant, by moving swiftly to Stage V, users and owners will see large savings in operational costs and fuel consumption that far outweigh the minor inconvenience of adding AdBlue at the same time as diesel when the tank needs topping up, just like on-site haul trucks and front-end loaders,’ continued Mr Ruffles.

‘Used in conjunction with new combined AdBlue/diesel tanks in units that weight less than 2,000kg, these pumpsets mean companies can move large volumes of water over extended periods, in some cases pumping 72,000 tonnes or more in a single weekend between tank fills. This is unheard of in the UK and really uplifts productivity and reduces costs substantially for hire companies and users alike.’
