New general manager at BlueMAC

Michael Strain

Recycling plant specialists appoint Michael Strain to lead operations in the UK and overseas markets

BLUE Group have appointed Michael Strain as the new general manager of their bespoke plant equipment division BlueMAC. Reporting directly to the group’s CEO, Adrian Murphy, Mr Strain will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities at BlueMAC as the business expands in both domestic and overseas markets.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Murphy said: ‘Michael is an excellent addition to our business and I am delighted that he has become part of the team. BlueMAC has great momentum all over the world at the moment and, as brand recognition grows both in the UK and overseas, leading to continued expansion of the business, it can only mean good news for local business and, of course, jobs due to further recruitment requirements.’

Mr Strain has previously worked in a number of senior positions within the oil industry, most recently as general manager for Topaz, a leading supplier of lubricants and fuels to both the commercial and domestic markets across northern and southern Ireland.

Prior to this role, he worked for Shell Oil for almost 10 years in a number of key management roles. These included leading the team on the implementation of a SAP business system, as well as managing Shell’s authorized dealerships throughout Ireland.

Mr Strain joins BlueMAC with a strong order book, having recently secured a number of significant international deals. As well as ensuring these projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the high design and build standards synonymous with BlueMAC, he highlighted that his main initial focus will be helping to grow relationships with customers as well as developing the company’s R&D expertise.

‘A key priority for me is further enhancing our growing reputation on the world stage,’ said Mr Strain. ‘Furthermore, research and development is key for our business, so it will be a primary focus as we look to expand our portfolio of products.’
