Adam Smith appointed to lead sales team and help deliver company’s growth ambition

FORTERRA have announced the appointment of a new commercial director with wide-ranging knowledge of the construction industry, to help deliver the company’s growth ambition. Adam Smith, formerly national sales director at Jewson, will lead Forterra’s nationwide team of sales managers.

Mr Smith (pictured), who brings with him almost 30 years’ experience in the construction sector, has been tasked with improving Forterra’s overall revenues, as the UK building products industry is expected to grow through an increase in house building and recovering activity in the contracting sector.

Commenting on his new appointment, Mr Smith said: ‘Forterra are a well-established and hugely successful company with an enviable heritage in the UK building products market. Through my experience I believe I can bring value to Forterra through this role and build on their success.’

Before working for Jewson Mr Smith was sales and marketing director at Tata Steel and held the role of managing director at Corus Colorsteels, as well as various other senior management positions across Corus.

Stephen Harrison, UK managing director of Forterra, said: ‘Adam’s wealth of experience in the industry makes him the perfect choice for the role of commercial director. With the country’s home-building sector gathering pace, this is an exciting time for the company and we wish Adam well.’
