Minerals industry forum

THE British Geological Survey is to host the fourth Minerals Industry Forum on 28 February 2001 at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham. The meeting will form part of the DTI/BGS Minerals Programme with the theme 'Aggregates recycling: Limits to growth?'

The forum will focus on issues arising from initiatives by government to reduce the amount of natural aggregates quarried by increasing the use of secondary and recycled materials. With the pending review by central government of planning guidance on aggregates provision in England, and the proposed introduction of the aggregates levy, debate on these and other related issues should prove very timely.

The forum will feature invited speakers from industry, government and environmental organizations who will present a series of different perspectives on this theme. The event will conclude with a panel discussion which will allow delegates to debate the issues raised.
