Midland Quarry Products appoint new MD

Rick Green

Leicestershire-based firm welcomes Rick Green as its new managing director

MIDLAND Quarry Products (MQP), Hanson UK’s Leicestershire-based asphalt and quarrying business, have announced the appointment of Rick Green as their new managing director.

Mr Green moves from his current role as managing director of Hanson Contracting to replace Dave Bagshaw, who has retired after 39 years in the industry.

MQP consists of three quarries and 10 asphalt plants located across the Midlands. It was operated as a joint venture with Tarmac until 2013, when Hanson wholly acquired the company.

Commenting on his new appointment, Mr Green – who has more than 25 years’ operational and commercial experience in the highway construction and maintenance sector –said: ‘MQP has a great heritage and reputation and I am looking forward to be involved in shaping the next phase in its development. It’s exciting to lead a business with customer satisfaction, quality and reliability at its core.’

Mr Green is also chair of the Asphalt Industry Alliance (AIA) and is driving the organization’s continued campaign to increase awareness of the asphalt industry and to promote the uses and benefits of asphalt to specifiers, policymakers and the general public.

The AIA was established in 2000 and is a partnership between the Mineral Products Association (MPA) and Eurobitume UK.
