Major pump order for DXB Pump & Power

DXB mine dewatering pump

UK-based manufacturer delivers £900,000 order for twelve mine-dewatering pumps

DXB Pump & Power Ltd have delivered a £900,000 order for a dozen portable, engine-driven, mine-dewatering pumpsets, via a London-based procurement house, to a global mining company, to ensure its opencast mine remains productive during the annual heavy- rain season.

Designed and built at DXB Pump & Power’s new factory in Ipswich and powered by a combination of Caterpillar and Perkins Stage 3b engines, all 12 pumpsets were mounted on heavy-duty trailers, for ease of movement around the mine, and equipped with optional extras such as Wiggins fast-fuelling systems, storm and stone protection systems, and LED lighting and safety lights.

DXB Pump & Power say they have fast become one of the preferred suppliers of mine-dewatering pumps owing to their use of pump ends from US partners Cornell Pump Co., as well as their ability to offer extremely heavy-duty pumpsets at prices well below those of larger manufacturers, thanks to the company’s highly efficient production facility and low corporate overheads.

Simon Ruffles, managing director of DXB Pump & Power, said: ‘To be selected for this size of contract ahead of our global competitors shows that mines are now looking for a more competitive supplier of high-quality pumpsets that offer a low lifetime cost of ownership.

‘Using pumps from Cornell, which have hydraulic efficiencies some 10–15 percentage points higher than our competitors, allows us to do this. We are always able to achieve high flow rates and pressures without needing to use the largest engines, allowing our customers to save thousands on the purchase price and running costs.’

DXB Pump & Power have also designed a range of pumpsets offering flow rates of 400, 750 and 1,000 cubic metres per hour, at pressures up to 16 bar, using Caterpillar and Scania engines. Built within open skid-frames, these units can be shipped by 747 freighter or in standard 20ft containers.

DXB Pump & Power say their special ‘AeroPackage’ means pumpsets can be delivered to mines located anywhere in the world without the need to charter specialist aircraft, thereby reducing delivery times and possible downtime at the mines.
