MAC Solutions introduce new HMI units
New hazardous-area human-machine interfaces offer better connectivity and choice of programming platforms
BEIJER Electronics have announced that their QTERM-A7 and QTERM-A12 human-machine interfaces (HMIs) are now available in the UK through suppliers MAC Solutions.
The rugged devices have a touch-screen display and are certified for use in Class I, Division 2 hazardous gas or dust environments (in operating temperatures from –30 degrees Celsius to +70 degrees Celsius), making them suitable for use in a wide range of applications, including mining and quarrying. The HMIs also come with a choice of programming platforms and offer a variety of interfacing options.
Dennis Price, product manager at MAC Solutions, commented: ‘While there are HMIs already on the market that are certified for use in hazardous areas, the QTERM HMI is unique in that it offers improved interfacing and open connectivity. The interface comes with Beijer’s own intuitive iX Developer configuration software, which facilitates set up and interfacing for the user.’
The QTERM-A7 HMI features a 7in, vivid, 800 x 480 WVGA, LED backlit colour graphics TFT-LCD display. User input is via the unit’s resistive, touch-screen display. The HMI is also supplied with an integrated 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface, two USB 2.0 full-speed host ports and two serial ports. The QTERM-A7 is sealed to IP66 and, when mounted correctly, the unit also meets NEMA-4X specifications for washdowns, icing and salt spray.
The QTERM-A12 HMI offers all the functionality and features of the QTERM-A7, but has a larger 12.1in, 800 x 600 SVGA display. The user has a choice of configuration software, including: iX Developer for automation control; Qlarity 3 object-based programming; and Windows’ Embedded CE 6.0 development.
Other features provided on the QTERM HMIs include: built-in protection from power transients and spikes, reverse voltage and overvoltage; 4GB of flash memory storage; real-time clock; and programmable speaker.
