Library book

Representatives from Lancashire County Council gathered at Back Lane Quarry, near Carnforth, recently to be presented with copies of ‘Natural Quarry’, new a publication commissioned by Aggregate Industries UK Ltd. The book provides a dramatic photographic record of wildlife associated with the company’s operations, and copies will be placed in local libraries for loan to members of the public.

Quarry unit manager Mark Morfoot said the idea behind the book was to give an insight into the quarrying industry in the UK and the rare and valuable species that live among the daily work of mineral extraction and processing.

Thanking the company for their gift, Councillor David Wood described the book as a ‘delightful record’ of the part being played by Aggregate Industries in the protection of the natural environment.
