Lafarge expats withdrawn from Egypt
Company organizes temporary return of around 30 expatriates and their families based in Cairo
LAST week Lafarge arranged the return of around 30 of their Cairo-based expatriates and their families, involving approximately 100 people in total, following the recent political unrest in the Egyptian capital.
The move is understood to concern less than half of Lafarge’s expatriates in Cairo, and a very small proportion of the company’s management in Egypt.
The company said the decision had been taken as a measure of prudence and in the interests of the families, and also took into account the international nature of certain activities based in Cairo.
According to Lafarge, the decision is temporary and will have no impact on the company’s operations in the country.
