Kingfisher to showcase total wear protection solutions at Hillhead 2012

Kingfisher wear protection solutions

Kingfisher will show total wear protection solutions to reduce maintenance costs and extend life of quarrying plant

Kingfisher Industrial, total solution providers for wear-protection systems, will be exhibiting their full range of wear-protection lining systems - ceramics, metallics and polymers - at Hillhead 2012 on stand C15.

By incorporating these systems into process plant and equipment, maintenance costs are reduced substantially and the operating life and performance of quarrying and mining equipment, such as crushers, storage hoppers, screens, washing barrels, chutes and pipework, is improved considerably.

Examples of Kingfisher’s optimizing wear-protection liners that will be exhibited include K-BAS, a fused basalt lining designed for conveying and storage systems that require high resistance to friction-induced abrasion.

Also on show will be K-ALOX, a ceramic lining for wear problems involving both sliding and impact abrasion. K-ALOX has a smooth low-friction surface that progressively polishes during use, preventing material build-up and improving material flow. This lining system counters the effects of handling materials like granite, which have very abrasive characteristics and degrade the surface of equipment used to convey them.

K-PLAS, another particularly successful material for quarries, will also be shown. K-PLAS provides a sacrificial liner that guards against wear; simultaneously allowing total discharge of product, allowing maximum efficiency of discharge versus load. In the right application, a 10mm to 20mm thick K-PLAS liner offers comparable performance to various grades of stainless and abrasion-resistant steel plate, and is well suited to materials such as chalk, limestone and gypsum.

In displaying typical equipment utilized within the quarrying industry, Kingfisher will demonstrate the flexibility of being able to engineer the lining system to be incorporated inside plant that is used to handle, store or process various aggressive and difficult-to-handle minerals and aggregates.

Kingfisher engineers will be on hand throughout Hillhead 2012 to explain the pros and cons of wear-protection system suitability; and will be able to give examples of recent successes in combating the ever increasing dilemma for quarry operators, of maintenance of equipment verses continuity of operation.
