Kiln closure

RMC Group are to cease production of clinker at their kiln in Rochester, Kent, later this year when their new plant at Rugby reaches full output. The closure is expected to result in over 100 job losses.

The new plant at Rugby, which will set new standards in the UK for environmental and operational performance, commenced production in February and has sufficient capacity to fulfil over 10% of UK demand for cement.
