JCB sign new long-term engine supply agreement

JCB and Magni Telescopic Handlers sign agreement

Equipment manufacturer to provide Ecomax Tier 4i engines to Magni Telescopic Handlers

JCB have signed a long-term agreement to supply Tier 4 interim engines for a new range of rotating telescopic handlers to be launched by an Italian manufacturer.

Magni Telescopic Handlers, headed by Riccardo Magni, will produce up to 1,000 machines a year from their new 6,000 square metre production facility in Castelfranco Emilia, near Modena, in Italy.

This latest agreement to supply Ecomax engines to Magni TH represents another significant milestone for JCB and follows a recently announced £3 million a year deal to provide Ecomax products to Johnston Sweepers, the world’s leading manufacturer of street cleansing equipment.

Alan Blake, CEO of JCB, said: ‘As a family business, Magni TH share the same core values as JCB and are driven by innovation. We are delighted to have secured an agreement to supply engines for this new machine, as it builds on the growing success we are currently experiencing with engine sales to third parties.’

Equipped with JCB Ecomax Tier 4i engines, the telescopic handlers (to be known as Magni Rotos when launched) will have the potential to offer fuel savings of up to 10%. There will be seven models within the new range, providing payloads of between four and six tonnes, and lift heights of 18–30m. The machines go into production this spring and a number of the new models will feature patented stabilizer technology exclusive to Magni TH.

Riccardo Magni, president of Magni TH, commented: ‘JCB’s innovative approach to Tier 4i engine development brings major fuel-saving benefits to customers and my 30 years’ experience in the design and production of rotos, together with JCB Ecomax engines, will be a great force to be reckoned with.’
