Inspection service for on-line processes

Clyde Materials Handling now provide an inspection service for process systems which includes the hire of a high-temperature video borescope with a trained operator.

The air-cooled borescope, believed to be the first of its type in Europe, provides flexibility and allows the operator to inspect and record any maintenance requirements without shutting the process down.

The dual-purpose airflow, which both cools the lens and clears small items of debris from the borescope path, allows the camera to operate for short periods of time in temperatures up to 1,000oC. With its air cooling and 50mm bore, the borescope is flexible enough to negotiate 180o bends with radii down to 300mm and operating areas down to 75mm in diameter. It has a working length of 9m.

Clyde plan to introduce two new lenses, one featuring 90o viewing and the other housing a zoom lens in a rigid lance for applications where the camera cannot operate safely.
