Institute of Concrete technology and MPQC cement foundations with new CPD recording app

THE Institute of Concrete Technology (ICT) has chosen the MPQC Continuing Professional Development (CPD) smart device app as its platform of choice to assist ICT members with recording CPD.

After initially considering developing its own app, as well as looking at other existing CPD recording apps, the ICT decided that the MPQC CPD app matched all its requirements.

Michael Grantham, then ICT president, said: ‘The MPQC app has a number of features that will benefit our members greatly, such as automatic population of CPD, the ability to book new CPD training via the app, and the ability to take pictures and the search/share features, all of which make the app very versatile.

‘We’re pleased that we could collaborate with MPQC in this way and strengthen the links between both organizations for the benefit of the industry.’

MPQC, which oversees standards, training and skills for the mining, quarrying, construction and related industries, was initially approached by ICT in mid-2017 to discuss how the two organizations could collaborate and work together to provide tangible benefits to ICT members.

Anthony Elgey (pictured), general manager at MPQC, said: ‘We welcomed the approach from ICT and immediately recognized how we could collaborate and develop some new features that would not only benefit ICT’s members, but also MPQC’s.

‘The pooling of our resources is allowing us to bring even more benefits to the industry and has given us the opportunity to reskin the app and incorporate the ICT colours and branding.’

The new and improved CPD app is now live and can be downloaded on Android and Apple devices (search MPQC CPD). Users will need to contact MPQC or ICT for an access code.
