Hitachi machine cleans up at new recycling plant

Hitachi ZW180-6 wheel loader

Remondis UK invest in new ZW180-6 wheel loader to help streamline operations

WASTE-management firm Remondis have taken delivery of a Hitachi ZW180-6 wheel loader for use at their new recycling facility in Birtley, Tyne & Wear, where they are currently using highly efficient technology to ensure the maximum amount of waste material is recovered and recycled.

Following a successful demonstration of the Hitachi machine, dubbed ‘reliable and robust’ within the waste application sector; the fleet management team at Remondis made the decision to purchase the ZW180-6 waste-handling spec model for load and haul operations at the recycling plant.

To meet the needs of Remondis’ daily waste-management operations and activities, the wheel loader includes: foam filled tyres; light and screen guards; and the recycling firm’s livery.

Kevin Hawkes, operations director for Remondis, said: ‘We decided to invest in the Hitachi ZW180-6 wheel loader following the provision of a demonstration machine and the excellent feedback from our experienced plant operators.

‘Having previous experience of Hitachi wheel loaders, I am sure this latest addition to our mobile plant fleet will complement our new construction and demolition waste-processing plant.’

Steve O'Mara, wheel loader product manager for Hitachi Construction Machinery, said, ‘We're delighted that Remondis chose Hitachi loading shovels. With our excellent reliability and low-fuel usage, I'm positive that it will complement the state-of-the-art plant Remondis are running.’
