Hills Group adopt new Responsible Purchasing Policy

Responsible purchasing policy

Company commits to transparent and ethical business conduct in response to Modern Slavery Act

THE Hills Group have committed to conducting their business in a transparent and ethical manner with the introduction of a Responsible Purchasing Policy.

Chief executive Mike Hill said: ‘We believe that working with suppliers, contractors and business partners who hold the same attitude to business as ourselves enables us to maintain the current high standards we operate to.’

The Responsible Purchasing Policy also provides a framework for Hills to comply with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

The Act is one of the first of its kind in the world and was created specifically to address modern-day slavery and trafficking issues. It provides greater powers of law enforcement to punish slave-drivers and human traffickers, and also includes a provision to encourage businesses to make sure all their suppliers are slavery-free.

Details of the new policy have been sent to all Hills’ suppliers who are requested, in turn, to confirm their compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015, along with supporting the principles that Hills will apply when appointing contractors and business partners to work with, and in selecting suppliers of goods and services.

Mr Hill continued: ‘This new policy ensures that social, ethical and environmental considerations are incorporated into Hills’ future business decisions. It also commits us to minimizing any negative impacts which may arise from our operations, and maximizes benefits for the environment and local communities.’
