Company makes further progress with agreements to sell cement plants in northern and central Italy

ITALCEMENTI, part of HeidelbergCement, have signed contracts with Buzzi Unicem and Colacem regarding the disposal of cement plants in the northern and central regions of Italy. All parties involved have agreed not to disclose details of the transactions at the present time.

‘These divestments are part of our action plan to accelerate our portfolio optimization,’ commented Dr Bernd Scheifele, chairman of the managing board of HeidelbergCement. ‘We are well on our way to reach our target of €1.5 billion of disposals by the end of 2020.’

The sale of the Spoleto cement plant in Umbria by HeidelbergCement subsidiary Italcementi to Colacem was closed at the beginning of April 2019.

In addition, Italcementi have signed an agreement with Buzzi Unicem regarding the sale of the Testi cement plant in Tuscany and two grinding plants in Piedmont. Closing of this transaction is expected by the end of July 2019.
