Harris decision imminent

AT last month's Court of Session in Edinburgh, Lord Hardie issued a written determination that the Scottish Executive must reach a decision within 21 days on Lafarge Redland Aggregates' application to develop a coastal quarry at Lingerabay, on the Isle of Harris.

Earlier this year the company were granted a judicial review under Lord Hardie in an effort to compel the Scottish Executive to reach a decision based on the recommendations of the report of the nine-month Public Inquiry into their application.

In September it was revealed to the Court that the report recommends that planning permission for the quarry 'should' be granted.
