Global launch for Tier 4 Final PowerROC D60

Epiroc PowerROC D60 hydraulic DTH drill rig

Upgraded version of Epiroc down-the-hole drill rig now available for global markets

EPIROC have announced the global launch of their well-regarded PowerROC D60, which is now equipped with a Tier 4 Final-compliant engine.

‘We are very pleased that we can now offer the PowerROC D60 on the global market,’ said Wei Wen Xu, senior product manager for Epiroc. ‘With this launch, our customers have the opportunity to select a straightforward and robust down-the-hole (DTH) rig for drilling large holes.’

The PowerROC D60 hydraulic DTH drill rig from Epiroc is designed to drill the largest holes in the PowerROC family. The Tier 4 Final version meets the latest emission regulations for operations in countries with the highest emission standards.

Wei Wen Xu continued: ‘This is the first PowerROC DTH rig which complies with the higher emission regulations. It is an important step to keep on reducing the environmental footprint.’

The first PowerROC D60 rig was delivered to the US earlier this year and has received a lot of positive feedback.

The DTH unit can drill holes ranging from 110mm to 178mm in diameter, whilst the rig’s 5+1 rod-handling system makes it possible to drill holes down to a depth of 30m. The well-proven Epiroc technology ensures the quality and straightness of the holes.

Key features such as a pilot hydraulic system and straightforward electronic unit make the PowerROC D60 easy to operate and service, whilst the powerful rotary unit means the rig can operate reliably in all types of rock conditions.

In addition, a highly effective dust-collection system ensures that the work environment is kept clean and safe, to protect both the machine and personnel.

‘The PowerROC D60 is safe and powerful,’ said Wei Wen Xu. ‘Match that with the fact that it is easy to use and repair, and you’ve got a great recipe for increased production and high availability.’

The Tier 4 Final version of the PowerROC D60 is now available in North America, Japan and Korea.
