THE Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) has today announced that it has added cement companies from India, China, Peru and Mexico to its growing global membership base, which now totals 36 member companies and 15 affiliates.

The latest companies to join the GCCA, following its launch in January 2018, are: Corporacion Moctezuma (Mexico); Unión Andina de Cementos (Peru); JSW Cement (India); and West China Cement (China).

Benjamin Sporton, chief executive officer of the GCCA, said: ‘The continuing and rapid growth of the Association’s membership is very encouraging. With a strong work programme now under way it’s important that our authoritative voice represents the growing list of cement and concrete manufacturers committed to our principles of enhancing industry sustainability efforts and driving innovation.’

The new members represent a further step for the GCCA in its ambition to represent at least 50% of global cement production capacity.

Six new cement and concrete associations from Spain, India, Japan, the US, Europe and Colombia were also confirmed as new affiliates of the GCCA, bringing the total number to 15 organizations.

The new affiliates are: Spanish Cement Association (Oficemen); Cement Manufacturers Association of India; Japan Cement Association; National Ready Mixed Concrete Association – US; European Concrete Platform; and Federacion Iboamericana del Hormigon Premezclado (FIHP) – Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula.

Dedicated to developing and strengthening the sector’s contribution to sustainable construction, the GCCA aims to foster innovation throughout the construction value chain in collaboration with industry associations as well as architects, engineers and innovators, demonstrating how concrete solutions can meet global construction challenges and sustainable development goals whilst showcasing responsible industrial leadership in the manufacture and use of cement and concrete.

With its headquarters in London, the GCCA complements and supports the work done by associations at national and regional level.
