Acquisition doubles both capacity and geographical reach for Gallagher Group’s customers

GALLAGHER Group have announced the acquisition of four ready-mixed concrete plants across Kent from CEMEX UK. The facilities in Tunbridge Wells, Sittingbourne, Margate, and Dover will join the Group’s existing operations in Maidstone and Ashford to give full coverage across the county.

Building on almost 50 years of consistent organic growth, this is Gallagher Group’s first external acquisition and takes their total number of concrete plants from two to six – more than doubling their annual production capacity and extending their ready-mixed concrete supply network right across the county.

Sean Connor, managing director of Gallagher Aggregates, said: ‘For some years, our ready-mixed concrete customers have been asking us to spread our net wider. These new acquisitions let us to do just that. We’re more than doubling our concrete production capacity and can now offer our unrivalled service and value to customers right across the county.

‘We’re investing significant sums in upgrading these sites, as well as adding to our mixer fleet and taking on additional staff. It’s all part of our fundamental commitment to getting the right product to the right place at the right time and price for our customers, wherever they are.’

All existing staff at the sites in Tunbridge Wells, Sittingbourne, Margate, and Dover will be retained, and new driver, supervisory and management roles are also being created. Gallagher Group are making substantial further investment to modernize and upgrade the plants and are expanding their mixer fleet to match the increase in capacity and geographical reach.

And in another significant boost for customers, they will now be able to deal directly with their local plant and sales team, rather than having to go through a remote central office.

Mr Connor continued: ‘We’re responding to our customers’ needs by investing in enhancing our capacity in the market. More sites mean wider coverage, complementing our county-wide ability to offer aggregates, recycling, and muck away, and allows ready-mixed concrete customers right across Kent to benefit from our outstanding value and commitment to great service.

‘The values upon which the Gallagher Group have been built, including our commitment to community support, charity work, and creating local employment opportunities, will be replicated across Kent, with our customers at the forefront of everything that we do. We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues to the family.’
