FTA Roadworthiness Award

Freight Transport Association recognizes the work of Tarmac’s Dunbar cement site

TARMAC’s Dunbar cement site has received a Roadworthiness Award from the Freight Transport Association (FTA), in recognition of its high standards when maintaining its fleet of vehicles and trailers and controlling safety-related defects.

The FTA is the only organization in the UK that represents all of logistics, with more than 17,000 members. The Association provides vehicle inspection services to organizations keen to achieve the highest levels of safety and compliance.

Announcing the award, the FTA’s senior contract manager, Eric Higham, said: ‘I’m delighted to present the prestigious Roadworthiness Award to Tarmac’s Dunbar cement site in recognition of the excellence it has achieved in vehicle safety and its commitment to maintaining the best standards of compliance and vehicle condition.

‘This award reflects the very high benchmark set by Tarmac and I would like to congratulate everyone involved in the efforts that are obviously being made to ensure the fleet is safe, legal and efficient at all times.’

The FTA’s Roadworthiness Awards highlight its members’ efforts in maintaining their fleets to the highest standards. They also recognize excellent levels of vehicle safety, condition and maintenance, and are designed to encourage and reward best practice in compliance with vehicle condition legislation.

Terry Scott, national logistics manager at Tarmac, said: ‘We are delighted to receive the prestigious FTA Roadworthiness Award and are incredibly proud of the high standards that we maintain throughout our fleet.

‘Safety and transport compliance are a key priority, and this award can be attributed to everyone in our Dunbar site, as it recognizes the exceptional contribution and hard work of the team to maintain our excellent safety record.’
