Foden Alpha on lime operation

Derbyshire-based Lhoist UK have purchased two Foden Alpha 6x2 mid-lift tractor units.

Lhoist UK operate a six-strong all-Foden transport fleet consisting of five tractor units and one eight-wheel rigid. The latest Foden Alpha tractor units are the first Next Generation Alpha trucks to join the company and are being used to deliver quicklime and hydrated lime products to customers across the UK.

"Richard Lomas of Lhoist UK commented: ‘These vehicles work on a very intensive, 24h, double-shift operation and within the first three months have covered in excess of 60,000km per vehicle. Our proven experience of the Foden marque, with the Cummins engine in particular, was a critical factor behind our decision to specify Foden once again.’"

Both tractor units are powered by the Cummins ISMe diesel engine rated at 420bhp and are pulling new Spitzer bulk tanker trailers for the distribution of ground lime.
