Five-axle Range C’s deliver more for Tipperary-based construction material supplier

GLEESON Quarries, one of Tipperary’s leading construction material suppliers, have taken delivery of their first Renault trucks – two Range C380 10x4’s supplied by Renault Trucks’ approved distributor Surehaul Commercials Ltd.

Both trucks are fitted with Gleeson Steel halfpipe bodies and join the quarry company’s fleet of 40+ vehicles delivering stone, wet mix, sand and gravel across south Tipperary, Kilkenny and Laois in Ireland.

The new Range C’s have a specially fitted fifth pusher axle, allowing the trucks to handle an increased payload of up to 24.45 tonnes, resulting in fewer journeys overall and improved operational efficiency.

Renault Trucks say their five-axle combinations, with complete vehicle type approval, meet the demand for heavier applications without the need or expense of retrofitting an additional axle, and come with full warranty and aftermarket support to deliver lower operating costs in the long run.

Explaining why he opted for the Range Cs, Gleeson Quarries’ managing director, Peter Gleeson, said: ‘Where other manufacturers could only offer us a tag axle, Renault Trucks were able to supply a specially fitted pusher axle.

‘Having the fifth axle in the centre is better suited to our particular operation and it is far more versatile; for example, when tipping into paving machines for road works.’

Mr Gleeson added: ‘As well as offering the best value for money, the team at Surehaul and Renault Trucks were able to offer us a five-year warranty, which provides us with greater peace of mind.’
