Extension granted

Kent County Council has granted Lafarge Aggregates planning permission to extend their sand and gravel operations at Stonecastle Farm Quarry at Whetsted in Kent.

The decision releases an additional 1.5 million tonnes of reserves which will be worked at a rate of 150,000 tonnes per annum over 10-year period. Final restoration of the extension will create an extra 56.5ha of environmentally valuable reed beds.
