Extec keep Mightyhire in front

THROUGH current legislative pressures, recycling companies are constantly striving to find new and innovative technology to maximize their competitiveness. Some twelve months ago Mightyhire Ltd added an Extec C-12 tracked jaw crusher and Robotrac to their growing fleet of mobile processing equipment to process the increasing quantities of aggregate and topsoil they encounter.

Mightyhire operate a modern fleet of tipper trucks to remove leftover materials from both national and locally based demolition and construction projects. The surplus soils and excavated materials that are removed, which include such recyclable commodities as aggregate, tarmac and brick, are hauled to the company’s recycling facility in Hull. Here they are reprocessed and sold to road contractors, local authorities, construction and civil engineering companies.

A key component of this operation is the crushing of the waste material to produce a useable aggregate. Prior to their investment in Extec technology, Mightyhire found this task was proving difficult costly. Their existing crushers suffered frequent downtime and were costing the business heavily in terms of new parts and maintenance. Since the arrival of the C-12, however, the machine has proved to be not only highly productive but also very easy to use and maintain.

Combining the key elements of production and mobility, the C-12 has allowed Mightyhire to gain competitive advantage. According to the company, the machine’s performance has easily exceeded expectations with the hydraulic jaw crushing material much more easily and quickly. The net result for Mightyhire has been a higher-quality end product and, ultimately, more profit.

For their topsoil operations, Mightyhire are using the highly mobile Extec Robotrac to screen and stockpile excavated material to produce redesigned topsoil mixes. Soil is received from excavation sites across the Yorkshire region and arrives throughout the year. After processing, various topsoil products are shipped primarily to landscape contractors as well as golf courses, DIY enthusiasts and groundworks’ contractors.

Extec say that although the Robotrac track-mounted screen was designed as a heavy-duty scalper, the machine’s highly-efficient screening process allows it to double as a grading screen in many applications.
