Express Asphalt reach health and safety milestone
EXPRESS Asphalt, a Bardon Aggregates subsidiary, have created an injury-free workplace for employees, by achieving a zero Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR).
Over the last 18 months, the company has introduced various initiatives to improve health and safety across its sites. As a result, with the combined effort from employees and the additional support of health and safety advisors, Express Asphalt’s LTIFR has been reduced from 26 to zero.
‘I’m very pleased to report that we have reached this health and safety milestone,’ said Simon Marriot, director of Express Asphalt. ‘The success has come from setting very clear values, and ensuring that they are clearly communicated and understood by everyone at the company.
‘We have introduced new rules above and beyond those required as standard by the business, for example, eye protection and gloves are now worn by employees at all times. We have also introduced an innovative weekly health and safety text message service to keep health and safety at the forefront of everyone’s minds.
‘Despite reaching this zero target, we do not want to be complacent, which is why we conduct a review every three months to keep up the momentum and look at implementing further initiatives.’
