Exploration, Site Investigation and Monitoring

EIG conference programme

Details of the Extractive Industry Geology (EIG) Conferences’ intra-year technical meeting for 2017

FOLLOWING successful one-day technical meetings on ‘Rockfall’ in 2013 and ‘Surface water, Groundwater and Flooding’ in 2015, this year’s EIG intra-year meeting, entitled ‘Exploration, Site Investigation and Monitoring – Recent Developments, Techniques, Data Collection and Presentation’, will take place on Wednesday 21 June at the Stratford Manor Hotel, Warwickshire.

The one-day CPD-certified meeting, which will consider various aspects relating to the recovery and dissemination of data from exploration investigations in the extractive sector, is expected to appeal to many geoscientists working in the mining and quarrying sectors, as well as other interested professionals.

An experienced team of speakers, including Cath Picket (HSE), Dr Alan Thompson (Cuesta), Prof. Hylke Glass (CSM), Dr John Chambers (BGS), Dr Ian Sims (RSK) and Dr Alan Cobb (GWP), will cover topics ranging from safe working practices, organizing geological investigations of sites, the use of techniques such as geostatistics in planning these operations, and various exploration investigation methods. The full list of speakers and topics will be announced in due course.

Case histories will be included relating to sampling, general investigations and drilling work, with a particular emphasis on UK operations, and as previously adequate time will be allocated for question and answer sessions and for discussions.

To book a place at the event (cost: £90 per person, including lunch and refreshments), print, complete and return the booking form (see pdf attachment below), or for further information contact Geoffrey Walton on: 07774 604932; or email: geoffw@dustscan.co.uk
