EIG Conference 2018 – Call for Papers
Organizers issue call for both oral and poster presentations at next year’s conference
PROPOSALS are invited for the presentation of both oral and poster presentations at next year’s Extractive Industry Geology (EIG) conference, which will take place from 13–14 September 2018 at Durham University, with optional field trips on 12 and 15 September.
Whilst posters have been used at previous conferences, for 2018 the conference organizers are looking to encourage a greater number of these and, for the first time, will provide poster authors with the opportunity to give a short (5 min) oral presentation to publicize their key findings.
As usual, the main focus of the conference will be on substantial oral presentations, grouped into thematic sessions. In response to feedback on the 2016 conference, these are likely to be of slightly longer duration than in previous years, with more time allowed for questions.
Papers are invited on the usual broad range of topics, from geotechnics and quarry design to hydrogeology, hydrology, site investigation, resources and reserves, mineral planning and regulation, quarry restoration and environmental issues.
Papers are also encouraged on any other relevant topic that is likely to appeal to an EIG audience. Recent case studies from mineral operators are always of particular interest and are strongly encouraged.
Anyone wishing to present a paper at EIG 2018, whether as a poster presentation or a full oral presentation, should submit an abstract of 200–300 words to: papers@eigconferences.com
Abstracts should be submitted before Christmas 2017.
