DUO push ahead

Following the Hillhead exhibition in June, the equipment division of DUO (Europe) plc have been awarded three exclusive distributorships — Technoidea water-management systems from Italy, GreyStone sand-classification and multi-blend systems from the US, and Smulders waste separators from Holland.

The Technoidea system allows silt water from a washing plant to be fed into a thickener tank where flocculent is added automatically. The fine solids, once congealed, fall towards the bottom of the thickener while clean water decants over the top to a clean water storage tank for reuse in the washing plant. Potable mains water is used as a top-up to replace any water lost in the system. Thickened solids are then drawn from the bottom of the thickener tank with a proportion reintroduced to the sand mixture to maximize the material recovery and minimize the amount of silt that has to be disposed. The balance is fed into a buffer tank and then on to a plate press to produce a dry filter cake. This cake can be reintroduced into sub-base-type materials or transported off site to landfill.

GreyStone’s Aggre-Spec sand-classification and multi-blend systems re-blend up to two-specification products simultaneously using single- or twin-tank controls, while maintaining product specifications and reducing the possibility of out-of-specification material. Windows-based programs offer simple product specification changes and multi-tasking capabilities. The software provides stockpile analysis by checking finished products against expected products and input settings. A reporting module collects data in spreadsheet format for flexible reporting.

Smulders waste separator allows users to recycle up to 99% of construction and demolition waste. It is fitted above a screen to separate out large-scale waste and uses suction to separate the waste further. With a capacity of 175 tonnes/h, the waste separator is equipped with a maximum sieve width of 1,800mm.
