Duo Equipment boost productivity at NWH

Established in 1967 as a family-run business, Neil Williams Haulage Group (NWH) are based in the Lothian area of Scotland and provide a wide range of transport services including tipper, heavy haulage and muckshifting.

Recent diversification of the business into several other areas has included the processing and supply of recycled aggregates. Having previously purchased a Powerscreen washing plant and a Tecnoidea 68-plate press from DUO Equipment of Coventry, the company currently processes 8,000 tonnes a week of washed recycled aggregates.

Faced with a growing local market for quality recycled materials, NWH once again turned to DUO for advice, which resulted in the purchase of a second Tecnoidea plate press of identical size. This addition to the existing plant will provide NWH with the ability to increase production and to work with material containing higher silt and clay content.

The second press, which will be ‘bolted on’ to the existing plant, will provide an efficient interface with the earlier Powerscreen and Tecnoidea equipment and will satisfy the company’s primary objective to provide quality recycled aggregates to the local construction materials market.

NWH director Mark Williams commented: ‘It was a natural choice for us to return to DUO; with their expertise and knowledge, they have provided us with the tools to take the project a step further. This will not only increase our production, but also means we can deal with difficult materials more effectively and provide a quality end product.’
