DoosanConnect telematics system reaches key milestone

Doosan DX380LC-5 excavator

Online fleet-management system now covers 60,000 excavators, wheel loaders and ADTs worldwide

SINCE the introduction of their DoosanConnect telematics system, Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment say they have increased their presence – particularly in the European and North American markets – as the web-based asset-management system now covers 60,000 of the company’s excavators, wheel loaders and articulated dumptrucks (ADTs) worldwide.

The DoosanConnect system is designed to increase efficiency in site management and equipment operation through real-time data monitoring by checking engine and hydraulic system parts of Doosan machines and other construction equipment. It provides key information, mapping and visuals on their location and availability.

Doosan customers receive a monthly report on equipment activity to ensure efficient machine deployment with detailed information on service hours, fuel consumption and timely responses to filter and oil replacement.

Doosan say they plan to expand the types of equipment covered by DoosanConnect and develop various services based on the telematics system to manage consumables and provide enhanced maintenance packages.

The DoosanConnect system is a standard feature on all new-generation Doosan Stage IV-compliant excavators (from 14 tonnes), Stage IV-compliant wheel loaders and Stage IV-compliant ADTs.

Also available for retrofitting (in kit form), the telematics system is supplied with a three-year subscription (free of charge) and customers are provided with their own accounts so that they can manage machines across their fleet using the system. Once the three-year complimentary period expires, customers have the option to purchase a service extension.

The DoosanConnect system allows fleet managers to compile a number of reports, including: fleet status; machine details; machine location; operating hours; fuel usage; engine idle time vs work time; machine error codes; engine warning system; maintenance history; and utilization reports.

According to Doosan, the telematics system provides significant benefits for customers through the use of operational data that help improve efficiency, such as altering machine idle times based on fuel usage, machine security and safety.

Moreover, the system can support multiple Doosan machines in different locations, helping customers to monitor machine utilization rates to assess that the right mix of machines is being used.

Operational data also give operators an insight into the machine’s fuel efficiency and selected power mode in different applications. This is helpful to determine if an operator can make adjustments in order to do the same work using less fuel.

With key information available from DoosanConnect, business owners can make better estimates when completing job bids and planning for jobs. Accurate machine usage reports, such as the number of hours a machine was used for a particular job, help owners respond to new business opportunities.
