Dependable Concrete

Company opens fourth ready-mixed concrete plant as part of westward expansion along the North Wales coast

DEPENDABLE Concrete have announced the recent opening of their fourth concrete plant as part of the company’s ongoing expansion programme. Strategically located in central Anglesey, near Gaerwen, close to the A55, the new plant is suitably placed to serve the whole of the island and areas on the mainland in and around Bangor and Caernarfon.

Founded in 2006, Dependable Concrete have traditionally operated in north-east Wales, west Cheshire and Merseyside, and have opened the new plant to expand their operation westwards along the North Wales coast.

The plant is located at Anglesey Aggregates Ltd’s Bwlchgwyn Quarry, which was reopened in 2017 after it had lain dormant for more than 30 years. The former Tarmac-owned site produces a high-quality granite aggregate.

Terry Parry, managing director of Anglesey Aggregates, said: ‘As part of our development plans it was imperative that a reputable ready-mixed concrete company was invited to the quarry. We are delighted to have Dependable Concrete on site; their presence will benefit the region, especially with the current and existing properties the island has to offer.’

Dependable Concrete have installed an Elba wet-batch plant equipped with a single-shaft compulsory mixer with a potential output of up to 60 cubic metres per hour, dependent upon mixed product type. The company has also installed two 100-tonne silos for cement and ggbs storage, and in line with its other plants, the batching and mixing functions are controlled by a Cantech process system.

The new plant replicates Dependable Concrete’s policy of producing concrete through central mixers to give the most efficient method of mixing intensity and fast homogenization of the product. The company says the central mixer will also lead to minimum delay for customers collecting concrete.

David Roberts, managing director of Dependable Concrete, said: ‘This is a wonderful opportunity for expansion and to continue our basic principle of providing a top-quality product and an efficient delivery service that customers expect with ready-mixed concrete.’
