Demand for line-boring on the up

Reed UK Ltd say that in recent months the demand for line-boring work has risen considerably and that they have recently secured maintenance contracts with large quarry groups as well as independent quarries all over the country.

"Paul Taylor, workshop manager, says that the line-boring service has been so successful that extra technicians have been trained to meet demand. The company uses a Bimotor model, supplied by Sir Meccanica of Italy, and says that the line-boring technique allows the smallest to the largest holes to be manufactured back to standard size. They are able to repair extremely worn holes that would have otherwise rendered equipment beyond repair."

"A recent contract involved the repair of a mining machine that required 40 bosses being welded and bored out, probably saving the machine from being scraped."
