Deep holes in difficult ground

"Foundation & Exploration Services have introduced a new tracked drilling rig, the Commachio MC1000, designed to drill to depths in excess of 200m. This multi-purpose rig is mounted on hydraulically operated tracks and is equipped for conventional and wireline coring, as well as tri-cone rock-roller and down-the-hole techniques."

The MC1000 has a 10-tonne articulated mast which allows holes to be drilled at any angle. Rod and casing handling have been improved using a hydraulic side-shift on the rotary head carriage.
