Deal done at Hillhead

Hippowash have sold a complete 6m above-ground wheel wash unit, incorporating a Siltbuster HB50ST water-recycling system, to Bullimore Sand & Gravel for their Collyweston Quarry in Northamptonshire.

The deal was agreed on the Hippowash stand at this year’s Hillhead exhibition between Nick Bullimore, director of Bullimore, and Chris McCumesky, managing director of Hippowash. The system chosen by Bullimore is the same specification as the working demonstration on view at the show.

The Hippowash and Siltbuster combination was chosen over five alternative systems and will replace an existing wheel wash unit that has been in operation for a number of years. The Collyweston site is expecting in the region of 200 vehicle movements through the new wash unit each day, comprising both quarry and landfill traffic. As the site exit is close to a busy A road, Bullimore considered it important to choose an effective system that would prevent road contamination.

Nick Bullimore said: ‘We liked the system with the Siltbuster option as it seemed effective and low maintenance at the same time. It makes a lot more sense to us than having to worry about emptying out lagoons.’
