Day Aggregates launch new rail movements into Kent
Company extends availability of Ecoblend products via new rail freight operations to Ashford
DAY Aggregates, a leading producer of sustainable construction aggregates across the South, have announced the extended availability of their Ecoblend products via new rail freight operations to Ashford in Kent. This strategic development marks a significant step in the company’s mission to enhance regional distribution while reducing the environmental impact of road transport.
With the introduction of this new service, Day Aggregates can now supply their recycled and manufactured Ecoblend construction materials to the Kent market with greater efficiency. The Ashford railhead will serve as a pivotal logistics hub, enabling prompt and consistent delivery of products to construction projects across the region.
‘This new operation allows us to better support contractors and developers in Kent by providing reliable access to our high-performance materials,’ said Adam Day, contracts director at Day Aggregates. ‘It reflects our ongoing commitment to offering practical, low-carbon solutions that support sustainable building practices.’
By shifting the movement of bulk materials from road to rail, Ecoblend is actively contributing to the reduction of traffic congestion and vehicle emissions in Kent and the surrounding areas. Each trainload removes around 75 lorry journeys from the road network, aligning with regional goals for cleaner, greener infrastructure development.
‘This is not just a logistical improvement, it’s a meaningful step towards lowering the carbon footprint of construction supply chains,’ added Nick Sadler, operations director at Day Aggregates.
The Ashford operation is expected to play a vital role in supporting highways, housing, and infrastructure projects throughout Kent, including areas such as Canterbury, Folkestone, and Dover, ensuring that recycled and manufactured materials are readily available where and when they are needed.
