Crusher repair

Corus have recently carried out repairs on the gyratory crusher shaft and core at Bardon Aggregates’ Bardon Hill Quarry.

The work involved pre-machining damaged taper-locating faces on both the shaft and core, non-destructive testing of the faces to ensure they were free from cracks, building up the machined faces with weld metal, taking care that the items were kept at the correct temperature throughout the welding process and the cooling operation. The taper-locating faces were then finished back to the drawing sizes and tolerances.

The work was carried out on a breakdown basis in close liaison with Bardon Aggregates.
