Corus now serve the quarrying industry

"Corus Process Engineering have served the steel and other metals manufacturing industries for over 60 years. Over the last two years, utilizing their technical expertise and manufacturing facilities, they have also completed projects for Castle Cement, Lafarge Cement, Rugby Cement and Bardon Aggregates."

"A Pfeiffer roller mill from Castle Cement’s Ribblesdale Works which had suffered damage resulting in the hub location keys being sheared, allowing the segments to shift and damage the main hub diameter, has been refurbished. Weld reclamation and machining were carried out to repair approximately 60% of the hub diameter. Final machining work was carried out on a vertical borer with modification work on the hub to allow redesigned segment-location keys to be fitted. The modifications allowed for the hub to be machined so that the keys could be bolted and located into a recess on the hub, thus gaining a more secure fixing."

"Corus have also recently repaired the gyratory crusher shaft and core for Bardon Aggregates’ Bardon Hill Quarry. The work involved pre-machining the damaged taper-locating faces on both the shaft and core; checking the faces were free from cracks; building up the machined faces with weld metal, taking care that the items were kept at the correct temperature throughout the welding process and cooling operation; then machining the taper-locating faces back to the originally specified sizes and tolerances. The work was carried out on a breakdown basis and throughout the repair Corus liaised closely with Bardon Aggregates’ own engineer."
