Cooper Crouse-Hinds extend explosion-proof range of light fittings

Full range of energy efficient Ex-light fittings for T5 fluorescent lamps now available

COOPER Crouse-Hinds have extended their range of explosion-proof nLLK 10-series light fittings for T5 bi-pin fluorescent lamps (16mm diameter), by introducing a new 2x35W version. The nLLK 10 series now includes: 2x14W, 2x28W and 2x35W versions in the range.

The nLLK 10 series is certified for use in Zones 2 and 22 in accordance with the European Directive (ATEX) and the IECEx standards. The new 2x35W version possesses all the performance features of the company’s existing nLLK 08 series Ex-light fittings for Zone 2/21 T8 fluorescent lamps (26mm diameter). However, the new nLLK 10 series is fitted with special EVG electronic ballast technology (including End-Of-Life set up and switch-off), which provides improved safety, lighting quality and significant energy savings. The EOL circuit allows the lamp to be monitored and switched off safely when the End-Of-Life has been reached.

In addition, the nLLK 10 series can be fitted to the housings of the company’s existing nLLK 08, 18W or 36W or 58W T8 lamps, with or without through-wiring.

The nLLK 10 series is said to be cost effective and easy to install. The light fitting provides options for either a loop in and out or through-wired arrangement, combined with easy access terminals. Installing the light fittings is further simplified by a double-sided safety lock, with 10, 20 or 24 latch points, which allow the protective bowl to be hinged on both sides. This means that the light fitting can be mounted without having to be concerned with which way the bowl opens.

The nLLK 10 series is suitable for applications in Zone 2/22 hazardous gas and dust areas, including onshore and offshore installations, oil refineries and chemical plants. The advantage of these lamps is based on higher energy efficiencies. The focus is on applications involving the illumination of inside areas for which the thermal behaviour of the lamps has been rated. The nLLK 10 series is protected to IP66 and is certified for ambient temperatures from -25 degree C to +50 degree C. Rated voltage is 220-240V AC/DC, 50/60 Hz.
