College to benefit from cash gift

"THE William Bradford Community College near Hinkley, Leicestershire, has received a welcome cash boost from Aggregate Industries UK Ltd in advance of the college being recognized as a specialist technology centre. The company presented a cheque for £10,000 to the college last month at a special gathering of current and former pupils."

The donation will go towards a sponsorship fund set up to support the college’s bid to be recognized as a specialist technology centre from this September.

"Links between the college and Aggregate Industries have existed for many years and a number of former students have gone on to work with the company’s Bardon Aggregates division, including Mike Pearce, who was recently appointed Midlands general commercial manager, based at Croft."

"Measures to further reinforce the alliance between the college and the company include the recent signing of a formal partnership. Pupils will now have the chance to gain work experience with Aggregate Industries, while the company’s employees will benefit from management development and training programmes run by the college."

"Bardon Aggregates’ Midlands regional director, Colin Jenkins, said: ‘We look forward to working closely with the college, its pupils and staff and hope that the mutual benefits of training, development and employment opportunities will continue for a long time to come.’"
