Butters AMT launch MIG Synergic Auto range
Welding and cutting equipment specialists Butters AMT have introduced a range of MIG Synergic Auto machines, which launches with ‘Auto’ versions of the company’s single-phase AMT 271 and three-phase AMT 360 machines.
These new machines have Butters AMT’s traditional MIG machine bases with ‘soft arc’ technology (ie copper-based transformers and chokes) but add innovative control electronics, a user-friendly touch-pad and a digital display to simplify machine operation.
In Auto mode, the user simply sets the type of material to be welded, the wire diameter, the type of gas to be used, and the desired output voltage (in accordance with the thickness of the material to be welded), and the machine automatically sets the wire feed speed. Once welding commences, the wire feed speed is automatically regulated to maintain a constant arc length.
Butters AMT’s technical director, Julian Knowles, commented: ‘The automatic regulation of the arc length means that operators with little experience can produce uniform and spatter-free quality welds on every job, which means little if any rework may be required. The machines also require little setting up, so productivity can remain high.’
The Auto machines ‘assume’ the work piece is level, but a trim dial allows for the adjustment of the (average) wire feed speed for situations when the work piece is angled, upright or overhead.
The AMT 271 Auto is particularly suitable for light-to-medium industrial applications (including automotive), can weld up to 12mm and requires a single-phase 230V supply and a 25A fuse, while the AMT 360 Auto is well suited to medium-to-heavy industrial applications, can weld up to 18mm and requires a three-phase 400V supply and three 20A fuses. Both machines are mechanically protected to IP23 S and insulation class H.
Butters AMT say the new MIG Synergic Auto machines are available immediately and cost approximately 10% more than their non-Auto counterparts. The AMT 271 Auto and AMT 360 Auto will also be joined by a number of other Auto versions of Butters AMT’s single- and three-phase professional MIG welding machines in the near future.
