Bomag expand at Hillhead 2012

Bomag, the market leaders in compaction technology, will be exhibiting at Hillhead 2012 on an expanded 22m x 24m plot.

Although best known for their compaction equipment, Bomag are now a major player in the milling and paving markets, and so visitors to Hillhead 2012 will be able to see the company’s latest products and technology covering milling and paving, and the compaction of soil, stone and asphalt.

Bomag successfully launched their new generation of light tandem rollers, the Dash-5 family, in May 2011, but Hillhead 2012 will be the first public showing for this innovative class-leading range, which includes two ‘side-clearance’ models capable of compacting asphalt up to a wall or kerb.

Also making its debut at Hillhead 2012 will be an improved version of the Bomag Asphalt Manager compaction control system – Asphalt Manager II.

AM II is available on the large 8.7- to 13.3-tonne articulated tandem rollers and the pivot-steer tandem rollers. The system automatically optimizes compaction performance while rolling by continuously measuring the material stiffness to be compacted and constantly providing the maximum compaction performance achievable.

Compaction progress can be monitored on a special display, the Bomag Operational Panel (BOP), which also shows the operator the current asphalt surface temperature, the machine’s speed, and the effective amplitude being used.

A number of large Bomag AM II rollers are already successfully at work in the UK and with the industry needing to save time and money, and reduce its carbon footprint, Bomag say advanced technology such as Intelligent Compaction and Directed Vibration, both incorporated with AM II, are a good example of the ‘right product at the right time’.
