Blue Group to distribute Major Wire screen media

UK firm announces distribution agreement with Canadian manufacturer of advanced wire screen media

BLUE Group have entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Montreal-based Major Wire, manufacturers of technologically advanced, high-vibration wire screen media.

The Canadian firm’s cutting edge innovations include Flex-Mat, a high-vibration wire screen media which is said to have increased efficiency in more than 35,000 applications around the world.

The secret behind this performance is Flex-Mat’s individual wires, which are able to vibrate independently. The wires, which are held in place by distinctive green polyurethane strips, vibrate between 6,000 and 10,000 cycles per minute – up to 13 times more than a standard screenbox.

This improves material stratification, the process by which vibration in a bed of material causes the larger particles to rise to the top and smaller particles to fall to the bottom, thus allowing the specified sizes to fall through the wire, rather than being carried forward with the larger-sized material.

In addition to improved productivity and separation, Flex-Mat improves the open area, helping to eliminate blinding and pegging, as well as increasing the wear life of the screen.

OptimumWire is another industry first from Major Wire. With its high-carbon manganese metallurgical content, the wire is said to last up to 40% longer, which in turn decreases labour and downtime costs.

The screen media manufactured by Major Wire are available in a number different designs and configurations, including: Double-Wire, which provides precise sorting in high-impact and heavy material applications; ‘D series’, for precise passing; and ‘S Series’, which removes fines and produces a cleaner retained material whilst reducing the binding of sticky, wet materials.

Moreover, Major Wire media can be installed in the screening equipment of all major brands.

Commenting on the agreement with Blue Group, André Mathieu, vice-president of global business development with Major Wire, said: ‘We take great pride in working closely with our dealers. Our aim is to jointly assist customers achieve and ultimately surpass their production goals. Blue are ideal partners for us as their strong customer focus will allow us to achieve that objective within the UK market.’

Major Wire products will be distributed via Blue Group’s Spares facility, with popular styles and sizes being held in stock for immediate dispatch.

Blue Spares’ technical manager, Lee Holman (right of photo), commented: ‘This agreement with one of the world’s leading screen media manufacturers is great news for Blue. We are always looking at ways to better serve our customers and this will be another opportunity to help them increase their productivity and lower their costs.’
