Blackwell invest in Rapid International concrete equipment

C A Blackwell (Contracts) Ltd have invested heavily over the years in their in-house plant fleet. Their recent acquisitions underline the long-term commitment to the wind farm market and include a Rapidbatch 120 mobile concrete batching plant.

The plant, manufactured by Rapid International, is the first of it’s kind in the UK to be purchased by a contractor and allows consistent high output and quality concrete to be produced on even the most remote of sites.

Up to 21,000m3 of site-batched concrete will be delivered by a fleet of specially adapted Bell B30 articulated dumptrucks, fitted with self-powered mixer units. The adaptation has been undertaken so that the original skip body can be readily interchanged with the mixer unit, Bell B30’s were chosen as the base vehicle as they exert a low ground pressure. Utranazz, the concrete equipment specialist, have designed and supplied the custom-made 6m3 demountable concrete mixers.

The new acquisitions are currently on site at Clyde Wind Farm, the largest single consented onshore wind farm in Europe with 152 turbines and a capacity of 350MW, which is situated between Abington and Moffat, covering an area of 47.5km2.
