Atlas Copco expand QES generator range up to 500kVA

Atlas Copco QES 250 generator

Company launches four new portable models to meet the most demanding applications

ATLAS Copco have expanded their QES portable generator range up to 500kVA with the addition of four new models – the 250, 525, 400 and 500 – which have all been designed to provide a constant and reliable source of power for some of the world’s most demanding worksites.

Available in 50Hz or 60Hz versions, the latest QES generators are equipped with user-friendly Qc-series controllers that provide power within two clicks and take just six seconds to be fully operational.

With the new 250–500kVa models now available, it is possible to connect and deploy multiple generators in a modular power plant format if paralleling, load sharing or power export is required. To accommodate this arrangement, users can choose either a Qc 3012 multiple genset synchronization controller or Qc 3111 automatic mains failure (AMF) synchronization controller.

The QES generators are fitted with Stage IIIA emissions-compliant Volvo engines and feature waterproof, corrosion-treated canopies that repel all liquids, including heavy rainfall. They have been specially developed to perform continuously for up to 500h in extreme high (+50°C maximum) and low (–25°C minimum) temperatures.

‘Our QES generators provide a constant source of power in even the harshest weather conditions,’ said Sergio Salvador, Atlas Copco product marketing manager for rental and construction generators.

‘The new additions to the range offer even more flexibility for contractors in the construction and rental sectors, particularly those looking for generators with exceptional plug-and-play capabilities.’

All QES generators incorporate fuel-efficient powerpacks, sound-attenuated steel enclosures and spillage-free frames, together with integrated fork-lift slots and lifting beams for ease of transport. They also have a lifting frame structure that can withstand up to four times the weight of a generator, as well as a heavy-duty base frame to cope with regular mobilization.

Other key features include: a standard digital automatic voltage regulator (DAVR); and 300% short-circuit capability, meaning the generators can be used to start any electrical motor within 20 seconds.
