Advanced solids flow control

The Milltronics Accumass SF500 integrator from Siemens Process Instruments calculates flow rates and the totalized weight of bulk solids when used with a solids flowmeter.

"The integrator builds on the success of previous Milltronics models but, according to Siemens, technology improvements in the Accumass SF500 make in-motion weighing, monitoring and control easier and more efficient. The 32-bit microprocessor simultaneously processes, integrates and totalizes for instantaneous output display. It accepts the rate signal from one or two load-cells and provides a high-resolution 24-bit analogue-to-digital converter for each load-cell input. The patented balancing feature compensates for flow pattern variations to ensure consistently accurate readings. Built-in batch-control functions allow in-process batch accumulation applications and simplify automated load-out."

"The integrator may be used in tandem with a solids flowmeter, weighfeeder etc for accurate ratio blending or additive control."

"The Accumass SF500 has built-in Modbus RS-232/RS-485 ports with additional capabilities using SmartLinx plug-in modules for Profibus-DP, Allen Bradley RIO and DeviceNet. It connects directly to PLCs, plant communication networks, and HMI or SCADA systems without external digital interface boxes, wiring and protocol conversion."

"Existing flowmeters can be retrofitted. The modular construction provides the basic integrator functions in a standard package. Performance options, such as PID control and SmartLinx communications modules, can be added at the time of purchase or later."
