A1 Demolition & Services invest in new Hyundai and Powerscreen plant

Hyundai HL770-9A wheel loader

Company purchases £500,000 worth of new machinery as part of foreseeable business expansion

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE-based A1 Demolition & Services have strengthened their mobile equipment fleet with a number of new machines as part of the company’s strategic expansion plans.

The latest machines include a Hyundai R220LC-9A crawler excavator and HL770-9A wheel loader, which were supplied by Derbyshire-based EP Industries, alongside a Powerscreen Premiertrak R300 mobile jaw crusher and Chieftain 1700 mid-sized tracked mobile screen, both supplied by Blue Machinery (Central).

With many of their customers now operating in a more environmental friendly manner, A1 have seen huge demand for demolition projects becoming more sustainable. Going forward, the company has found a niche to provide complete processing solutions on the many contracts it undertakes.

By recovering and recycling aggregates on site, A1 customers can benefit from the demolition contractor’s ‘one pass production’ of sustainable aggregates for reuse in redevelopment and restoration projects.

Offering this unique service to his customers, A1 owner Craig Jackson believes by processing materials on site this saves the client significantly on haulage and extraction costs while meeting the Government’s Construction 2025 agenda – a major industrial strategy for the building industry.

Mr Jackson’s experience within the sector and his strong commitment to sustainability (eg lower emissions, reduced fuel consumption, increased productivity etc) led him to the Hyundai and Powerscreen brands.

‘We did look at other machines on the market but we had a Hyundai machine on demo and it outshone the others in both its performance and value for money,’ he commented. ‘Furthermore, Hyundai’s latest machines have strong environmental and safety credentials which, in building our business and moving it forward, were crucial.’

Powering the R220LC-9A crawler excavator is a Stage IIIB-compliant Cummins QSB6.7 engine (157hp) featuring a patented VGT turbocharger that continuously varies the airflow boost to precisely match engine rev/min and load demands for optimal performance.

The HL770-9A excavator is equipped with a Cummins QSL9 engine (Stage IIIB-compliant) that delivers improved performance and wide-ranging power from 240hp to 400hp. The QSL9 engine offers operational fuel savings of up to 5% compared with its predecessor, reducing cost of operation and providing higher levels of profitability to the bottom line.

Designed for medium-scale demolition and recycling applications, the Premiertrak R300 jaw crusher features hydraulic crusher setting adjustment for complete and speedy control of product size and offers overload protection to prevent any damage from foreign objects in the crushing chamber.

With a throughput capacity of up to 280 tonnes/h, the Powerscreen crusher runs at a low engine rev/min resulting in a high-level of fuel efficiency and very low emissions.
